As a form of real contribution of students of MBKM UNS Teaching Assistance for Science Education Study Program to improve the quality of life of the community, health socialization activities with the theme “Healthy Lifestyle” were held on May 25, 2025 at the house of Mrs. RT, Pungsari Village, Sragen Regency. This activity was initiated in response to the increasing number of dengue fever (DBD) cases that have attacked several villagers in recent weeks. “In the last 2 weeks, many residents have contracted dengue fever,” said Mrs. Endah Tyasmini as the Head of Pungsari Village. This situation encouraged KKN students to provide education about the importance of maintaining environmental hygiene and increasing endurance through a healthy lifestyle. This activity aims to increase villagers’ awareness of the importance of maintaining health through clean and healthy living habits. This activity involves residents from various circles, especially housewives who are at the forefront of maintaining daily family lifestyles.

“Socialization was delivered interactively with material covering the importance of consuming nutritious food, maintaining environmental hygiene, doing regular physical activity, and the importance of adequate rest.” said Fajar Nur Rahman as a student of UNS. This quote confirms that a communicative approach that involves the active participation of the community is very effective in increasing awareness of a healthy lifestyle. Through interactive delivery methods, participants not only receive information passively, but are also invited to discuss and share their daily experiences. This builds a deeper understanding and encourages positive behavior change in daily life. With material that touches on all aspects of health, this activity can have a real impact in increasing public awareness of the importance of maintaining health in a preventive and sustainable manner. KKN students also distributed simple leaflets containing healthy lifestyle tips that are easy to apply in everyday life. KKN students also provide education related to Zero waste, namely the importance of environmental cleanliness by sorting organic and inorganic waste, utilizing household waste, such as plastic waste that can be recycled into handicrafts such as shopping bags, then vegetable and fruit waste that can be used as liquid fertilizer, and used cooking oil that can be converted into aroma therapy candles.  Participants actively asked questions and discussed health problems that are often faced in the surrounding environment, such as irregular diet, lack of exercise, and the habit of not drinking enough water.

As a follow-up to the socialization activity, KKN students initiated a joint gymnastics activity which was held on another day at the community field. This gymnastic activity aims to invite villagers to start getting used to doing physical activity regularly. Gymnastics is done with enthusiasm, guided by students with energetic music accompaniment. Residents are happy because this activity is not only healthy, but also strengthens social relationships between residents. This program is a tangible manifestation of community service in supporting the community-based healthy living movement. The hope is that this activity can trigger the enthusiasm of residents to continue to maintain health independently and sustainably. KKN students are committed to continuing to assist residents in implementing a healthy lifestyle, as well as encouraging the sustainability of positive activities such as routine gymnastics and periodic health checks at the village level.
