Wednesday, October 30, 2024 – Undergraduate students from the Science Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), participated in a field study (KKL) at PT. Alga Bioteknologi Indonesia, a leading biotechnology company specializing in microalgae-based innovations.

This academic visit aimed to broaden students’ understanding of real-world applications of science, particularly in the field of biotechnology. During the program, students observed the cultivation, harvesting, and downstream processing of microalgae for various applications, including food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.

The field study was guided by four faculty members:

  • Dr. Muhammad Nur Hudha, S.Pd., M.Pd.
  • Dr. Kadek Dwi Hendratma Gunawan, M.Pd.
  • Dr. Budi Utami, M.Pd.
  • Annisa Nur Khasanah, M.Pd.

Dr. Muhammad Nur Hudha emphasized that the activity serves as a bridge between academic learning and industrial practice. “This field study is a valuable opportunity for students to witness how scientific principles are implemented in biotechnology industries and to inspire innovation through real-world experiences,” he said.

Students also engaged in a discussion session with the company’s research and production team, gaining insights into the opportunities and challenges in developing sustainable biotechnological products from microalgae.

The visit received positive feedback from participants, who expressed increased motivation to explore science-based research and entrepreneurship in the future.

This activity reflects the program’s commitment to providing students with experiential learning opportunities and preparing them to be future educators and professionals capable of integrating science with innovation and sustainability.
